Is an ongoing payment consent the same as a direct debit?
Last Updated: 28 May 2025
No. Ongoing payment consents allows a third party to initiate payments from your account, but you still have control over how much, how often, and for how long they can take payments. With a direct debit, the company can withdraw funds directly from your account, and they control the amount and timing of those withdrawals.
