Why can't I set up a new bill payee?
Last Updated: 18 Jun 2025
Our apologies if you are currently experiencing a 'Service Unavailable' error when setting up a new bill payee in FastNet Classic internet banking. Customers are experiencing this error when their account name contains special characters such as "+", "?" and "&".
Our team are currently working on a resolution to this issue.
In the meantime, you can still set up a new bill payee using one of the following workarounds:
- Use the ASB Mobile Banking app to add new payee
- Choose the add/save payee option when using the Make a Payment (to new payee) function
Note: This issue does not impact existing bill payees. Once a bill payee is setup, payments can be made as normal.
