How to set up and manage recurring payments with ongoing payment consents.
Last Updated: 28 May 2025
Ongoing payment consents are a secure and convenient way for you to manage recurring payments. They're an alternative to direct debits and give you more control over the payments you make.
There are a couple of ways to set one up:
On a desktop or laptop
- When you are on a merchant or a third parties' website, and you're ready to make a payment, you’ll be redirected to an ASB webpage that shows a QR code, or you’ll receive a notification. Use the ASB Mobile App to scan the QR code.
- Follow the instructions to authenticate yourself, then select the account that you want payments to be made from and authorise your consent.
On a mobile device
- When you are on a merchant or a third parties' website, and you're ready to make a payment, you’ll be redirected directly to the ASB Mobile app.
- Follow the instructions to authenticate yourself, then select the account that you want payments to be made from and authorise your consent.
If you need to view, or stop an ongoing payment consent:
- Log in to the ASB Mobile app (ensure the app is updated to the latest version).
- Tap on 'More' menu on the bottom.
- Tap on 'Settings' button.
- Under ‘Open Banking’, tap on 'Ongoing payment consents'.
- Select the respective consent to view, or stop consent.
