Master your day to day

The first step on your journey to better money management is getting your money organised and sorting out a spending and savings plan.

Know your spending

  • Understand where your money is going
Use Spend Tracker to stay on top of your money. Spend Tracker automatically categorises your spending and tracks if you’re spending more or less over time. Find Spend Tracker in the ASB Mobile Banking app.

  • Cancel unwanted subscriptions
Card Tracker lets you check who has your ASB credit or debit card details saved, and what subscriptions are connected to your cards. Once you’ve worked out what you don’t need, you can contact the provider directly to cancel their services.

Optimise your accounts

Review your plans

Look through your power, phone and internet providers and make sure you’re on the best plan or deal. You could look at what other providers are offering too.

Organise accounts

Create different accounts for specific purposes (like bills, everyday expenses, and savings) to help manage your budget and make sure you always have money when bills arrive. Chat to us about different account options.

Get the most out of KiwiSaver

Make sure you've joined, are getting the government contributions if you're eligible and are in the right fund to achieve your goals.

Set your budget

Creating a budget helps you stay on track and in control of your money.

Use our budget template to look at what's coming in and what's going out, and work out what a realistic budget looks like for you.

If you manage your finances with someone else, complete your budget together.

Automate transfers, payments and alerts

Once you've got your accounts sorted and know what payments are coming, the next step is to get them automated. When you have a realistic budget and great automation, a lot of the work is done for you.

Recurring transfers

Set up transfers so that once you've been paid, your money gets split between your accounts.

How to set up recurring transfers

Automatic payments

Set up payments or direct debits for your regular bills so they get paid automatically.
