Our history
Our history defines who and what we are, it is our identity.
In 1847, at 7pm on Saturday 5 June the Auckland Savings Bank, New Zealand's first savings bank, opened on Queen Street, Auckland. ASB pledged to serve the community, to grow, and to help Kiwi grow.
Since then, we have committed to bringing New Zealanders the best banking products and services possible.
Over the years, we've continued to rethink the way people bank and how they interact with money and used these insights to develop innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs.

ASB is an internationally recognised provider of integrated financial solutions. We introduced internet banking to New Zealand, were the first bank to enable customers to pay with their mobile and launched the world's first digital money box for kids.
