Why do I need to verify my identity and address details?

It can seem odd to be asked for your ID, sometimes even from your local ASB team who have known you for years. We have to do this to comply with New Zealand’s anti-money laundering laws. 

They require us to officially verify every customer’s identity. That means recording your photo ID and proof of address, even if you’ve banked with us for a long time.

Our goal is to make this as easy as possible. You can use our ASB ID app on your mobile to verify your identity and address, or visit your nearest ASB branch. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
