No. You just need to be between the ages of 18-20 and have your pay credited to your new Job starter's account. If you’re studying at a college or university, or you’re in an apprenticeship, our Tertiary student package could be for you.
If you have a Tertiary account but haven’t had a chance to show us your proof of study, we’ll move you to a Job starter's account after a year. We’ll let you know before this happens.
You'll have the Job starter's account and all its benefits for two years. We'll then switch you to a Streamline account. It happens automatically, so you don't need to do anything. We'll let you know before we make the change.

The most popular credit card with Job starter's customers is the ASB Visa Light. It’s a great choice, with a low interest rate on purchases, no account fee ever, and a special smart rate purchase feature as well.
If you want to earn True Rewards on your spending, go for an ASB Visa Rewards. Every dollar you spend earns you True Rewards Dollars, which you can spend at our partner stores.

The ASB Job starter's package is specially designed for 18-20 year olds who are planning to go straight into the workforce after school or have already started working. The ASB Tertiary student package is for students who are studying at a New Zealand tertiary institution or completing their apprenticeship. The ASB Graduate package is designed to give anyone who’s just finished their tertiary studies or apprenticeship a helping hand in their next chapter - starting work.
Starting work usually means starting to pay board, rent and bills as well. It's easy to set up automatic payments in the ASB Mobile Banking app or in FastNet Classic internet banking. They're free to set up, and you can have as many as you like.
