If I need a PIN for Visa credit card transactions, what about contactless (payWave) payment or transactions?
Last Updated: 17 Dec 2015
There is no change to Visa payWave, (this is Visa’s technology that allows contactless card payments on point of sale terminals). For transactions under $80, you can still wave and go, no PIN needed.
For transactions over $80 you can still wave and go, but will be prompted to enter a PIN to complete the transactions. Visa payWave is protected by multiple layers of security and meets all the same security standards as traditional chip cards. Check here for more information about contactless payments.
