Better energy

Electricity could be the key to saving you hundreds of dollars every month. We've worked with Rewiring Aotearoa to create your guide to using better energy, to save money and help the planet.

We've been using electricity to light up our homes for generations, but electrifying our lives goes beyond powering the washing machine and microwave. Rewiring Aotearoa's research shows that many Kiwis still rely on gas, and petrol to power homes and vehicles, and that these days, modern electric equivalents can often do the job more efficiently.

Approximately two thirds of our energy needs are met by burning fossil fuels. In our homes, our reliance on fossil fuels for home appliances and transport is still high. This leaves our nation a little less green, and our wallets a lot lighter.

Switch to electric appliances

Going from gas to electric could save an estimated $750 a year in energy bills. This increases to over $1,000 if you're switching from LPG appliances*.

Add solar panels

Generate your own power by investing in rooftop solar, it could pay for itself in just 5-7 years.*

Get an EV

If you need a new vehicle, choosing an EV instead of a petrol vehicle could save an estimated $2,000 a year in running costs.* If you have solar panels installed on your home, the savings could be even higher.
