Which appliance to switch

Looking for helpful information on switching electric appliances? Rewiring Aotearoa is an independent non-profit on a mission to make New Zealand more electric.

Staying warm in your home is essential and if you don't have a heat pump, you could be eligible for a grant to cover some of the costs of getting one. Visit EECA to find out if you're eligible.

Water

Water heating is one of the biggest contributors to household energy bills. Electric water heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat water, and they're significantly cheaper to run.

Heating

Home heating is another big cost. Heat pumps are about 3 to 4 times more energy efficient than gas heaters, making them much cheaper to run.

Cooking

Electric induction cooktops are more energy efficient than gas cooktops, meaning they're cheaper to run.
