Why should I provide beneficiary address details on an international money transfer (IMT)?
Last Updated: 21 Jun 2017
Providing the full and valid physical address of the beneficiary of an IMT can sometimes assist in the funds being correctly transferred if the account number provided is incomplete or invalid. Many overseas banks now request this or they may reject the payment.
- ASB is unable to complete validation on any of the beneficiary account details provided by you. It’s your responsibility to ensure these details are correct before making a payment.
- An IMT is treated like an electronic payment; they’re usually sent to an account number only with no manual intervention.
- Name and address information provided is usually only used by the beneficiary bank if the payment needs to be applied manually due to incomplete or invalid account number information.
