What information do I need to make an International Money Transfer?
Last Updated: 25 Sep 2025
It is important to have the correct information when sending an International Money Transfer. Here's what you need:
- Recipient Name and Address: Recipient’s full account name and physical address including city and country
- Recipient Account: full account number or IBAN (International Bank Account Number). If an IBAN is used, it should be presented as a continuous string of alphanumeric characters with no spaces.
- Recipient Bank: The recipient bank's name, address and SWIFT Code (also known as a Bank Identifier Code/BIC).
If the recipient’s name is long and exceeds the character limit, continue typing into the first line of the address field, then continue typing the recipient’s address after the recipient’s name. This will ensure ASB can send all the required details with your payment to the recipient bank.
When sending money overseas different countries may need different information from you. Find out more information on country specific details.
If you are sending an International Money Transfer via FastNet Classic internet banking you will also need a Netcode.
