ASB invites Kiwis to participate in the Haier Big Hoot 2018

ASB is offering Kiwi artists and creatives an opportunity to design an owl to be included in Child Cancer Foundation’s Haier Big Hoot fundraiser in 2018.

ASB is looking for help to design and choose the ASB People’s Choice owl. Early next year Auckland will become an open-air gallery for more than 40 individually designed, 1.6metre tall fibreglass owl statues, which will be displayed on the Haier Big Hoot art trail across the city.

ASB’s People’s Choice competition is open to artists of all ages and artistic ability. Owl designs can be anything from traditional art to new media, fine art to illustration, street art to mosaic.

ASB general manager wealth Jonathan Beale says ASB is looking forward to seeing Kiwis show their unique talent as they enter their designs into the people’s choice competition.

“ASB is pleased to engage the New Zealand public in the ASB People’s Choice competition. Most of the Haier Big Hoot’s owls have already been designed so we’re pleased to offer the New Zealand public one last chance to get involved. Entrants don’t need to be award winning artists, their designs simply need to show creative flair and imagination,” Mr Beale says.

“ASB is proud to support the Haier Big Hoot early next year. Armed with a trail map and the Haier Big Hoot app, thousands of Aucklanders are expected to don their walking shoes, tracking down each owl and collecting incentives as they go.”

Child Cancer Foundation chief executive Robyn Kiddle says the Haier Big Hoot will offer a free and fun family experience, giving Kiwis the opportunity to explore parts of Auckland they haven’t visited before.

“We are excited to see the artistic talent shine through in ASB’s People’s Choice competition. We are thankful to ASB for getting involved in the Haier Big Hoot and for their ongoing support of Child Cancer Foundation. We encourage the creative New Zealand community to make the most of this last opportunity to take their place on the Haier Big Hoot art trail in 2018,” Ms Kiddle says.

You’ll need to fill in your entry details and upload your owl design. Entries must be submitted by 5pm Monday 14 August, 2017.

ASB will notify the finalists and, using ASB social media platforms, the public will be asked to vote on the best design. The winning owl will be chosen as the ASB People’s Choice entry for the Haier Big Hoot.
