Economic Weekly: Team America, and a welcome uprising

  • Middle-East tensions escalated last week as Israel continued its efforts to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, and see if it can trigger a regime change to boot
  • Over the weekend, the US made the monumental decision to get involved, as only it has the weapons that stand any chance of destroying Iran’s buried nuclear facilities and upping the chances of preventing Iran from making a nuclear bomb for some time
  • Looking very narrowly at NZ, a sustained lift in fuel prices would make the RBNZ more nervous about inflation expectations creating unhelpful behavioural shifts
