Daily Alert: Equities take a battering as sell-off resumes
Most major sharemarkets in Europe and North America have notched up noticeable falls overnight.
As we’ve noted over
previous publications, the ‘wall of worry’ – the Evergrande saga, the latest US
debt ceiling stoush, stagflation fears and the gradual tightening in monetary
policy – has started to weigh on markets
of late.
The other function of
stagflation woes is that commodity prices have lifted overnight, in contrast
the usual risk-off trend.
