What’s on at the Auckland Lantern Festival 2018

From Thursday 1 – Sunday 4 March, the Auckland Domain will be illuminated with over 800 homemade Chinese lanterns in celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year.

ASB will be there so there will be plenty to get excited about! Bring your friends and family along and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, food stalls, art, traditional Chinese on-stage performances and more.

Digital Wishing Tree

It’s believed that if your wish sticks to the tree, it’ll come true in the coming year.

Enter your New Year wishes on one of the touch screens available on site and ‘throw’ them to our Digital Wishing Tree. They will be displayed on the tree itself across 1 of 50 hanging iPads. 

This year, making a wish could win you a prize. There are thermal flasks, smart phone holders and powerbanks for lucky wish makers!

ASB Lantern Lounge

Come visit the ASB Lantern Lounge, an exclusive area for ASB customers. Simply show your ASB card or the ASB Mobile app to gain entry.

We’ll have free live performances to enjoy throughout the night including traditional lion dance and a yoyo show by Diablo. 

ASB Lantern Canopy

New this year, we have the ASB Lantern Canopy located next door to the ASB Lantern Lounge. Come and see over 60 lanterns light up the trees and the ASB frame. Make sure you take a photo to remember the evening and share it with us using the hashtag #ASBlanterns. 

The limited edition the Year of the Dog FastCash card

Last year’s the Year of Rooster Card was such a hit, this year, our limited edition the Year of Dog FastCash card which combines the Chinese zodiac element and unique New Zealand characteristics, will bring you luck and prosperity in the year of dog.

ASB Lantern Forum

As part of this year’s festival, ASB is co-sponsoring the ASB Lantern Forum. This is an exclusive event bringing together politicians, migrant investors and influential business people in the Chinese and business community to discuss topics affecting the migration flows out of China.
