What is open banking data sharing?
Open banking data sharing gives you a secure way to share your account information (like balances or transactions) with approved third-party applications and services. Think mortgage brokers, accounting tools, or money management apps that help you budget or sort your finances.
You’re always in control. Nothing gets shared without your say-so, and you can manage or stop access at any time in the ASB Mobile Banking app.
How it works
Sharing data might sound technical, but we’ve made it easy—here’s what to expect.
- Pick your provider: You start with a third-party provider. They’ll explain what information they need and why.
- Give permission: If you’re happy to go ahead, you’ll give them permission to request access, usually via their website or app.
- Log in securely: You’ll be directed to the ASB Mobile app to confirm. If you’re on a desktop, you may need to enter your mobile phone number or scan a QR code through your banking app to verify it’s really you.
- Choose what to share: You pick the account (or accounts), see exactly what data they’re asking for, and set how long they can access it.
- You’re all set: Once you approve, the third party gets access to the information you agreed to—and nothing more.
- Stay in control: You can see and manage all your sharing consents in the ASB Mobile app. Stop sharing anytime, no questions asked.
