If I send money internationally, can I keep the currency sent in New Zealand dollars?
Last Updated: 10 Jul 2024
Sending money internationally often involves more than one bank, meaning we can't guarantee that they won't convert the payment into another currency. However, to reduce the possibility of this happening, you can do the following:
- On the Beneficiary Account Holder Details screen, look for the field described as Beneficiary Account Holder Statement.
- In Beneficiary Account Holder Statement, type the text 'Do not convert'.
ASB will then provide instructions for other banks to not convert the money into another currency. Please note that after ASB’s instructions are sent, conversion of these funds is outside of ASB's control.
Please refer to our Foreign Exchange Terms and Conditions.
