Why does ASB Securities not offer Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRP) on Foreign Securities?

Effective from 1 May 2017 ASB Securities has discontinued offering the option to participate in Foreign Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRP) for any stock held in custody, excluding Australia.
The decision has been made due to the complexity of foreign and domestic tax obligations when dealing with cash fractions as well as the decreasing number of DRP participants.
