What if I’ve been an eligible member of the ASB KiwiSaver Scheme for only part of the annual Government contribution year (1 July - 30 June)?

If you joined KiwiSaver, turned 18, returned to New Zealand, or became eligible for a retirement withdrawal part-way through the year, you’re entitled to an annual Government contribution for the part of the year that you were eligible, as long as you have been making contributions.

For example, if you joined KiwiSaver on 1 January and you contributed at least $521.44 before 30 June, you’ll get an annual Government contribution of around $260.72. This is because you were eligible for six months (half of the annual Government contribution year), not the full year.
