ASB appoints new senior executive to lead corporate strategy

ASB has appointed Chris de Wit to the role of Executive General Manager, Corporate Strategy, on the Bank’s executive leadership team.

Prior to joining ASB, Mr de Wit was a partner and national lead for the banking and capital markets group for professional services firm EY in New Zealand. His 18-year career with EY saw him work in Europe, Asia and New Zealand with global and local banks, consulting on a range of improvement, risk, compliance and change-related roles.

In his new role, Mr de Wit will assume leadership of ASB's corporate strategy.

ASB Chief Executive Barbara Chapman says Mr de Wit was a natural fit for the corporate strategy role.

"Over the course of his career, Chris has gained extensive experience in developing and implementing strategy in large organisations like ours," Ms Chapman says.

"Corporate strategy is a critically-important area for ASB, and we are delighted to have Chris on board to lead the team."
