We have made some changes to the Merchant Operating Guide, effective from 1 January 2010. Rental car companies will no longer be able to bill Visa or MasterCard credit cards for damage to vehicles as ‘delayed amended charges’. Explicit permission from the cardholder for the exact amount of damages must be obtained and this amount must be processed as a separate transaction.
