Every time I see that banner for FastNeedAFijiHolidaySaver I am filled with the desire to be lying on a beach in the Pacific.
Lying on beaches in the Pacific is one of the things I do best, as it happens. Some people struggle to spend day after day doing absolutely nothing but rubbing in sun tan lotion, reading books and sipping cocktails but if there is one God-given gift with which I have been blessed, it’s the ability to do just that.
Unfortunately for me, I have been separated from my rightful throne on a lounger in the islands for more than a year now.
The problem is that I have stickability issues with my FastNeedAFijiHolidaySaver account.
You see every now and then it transforms itself into a FastNeedThatCashmereSweaterBecauseIt’sOnSaleSaver account or a SickOfUsingTheCrockpotSoMustGoToO’ConnellStreetBistroForDinnerSaver account.
This is all very well, in fact it’s all very fantastic when one is wearing the sweater or enjoying the new season asparagus with quail’s egg. But it is not so hot when one looks at the price of air fares to Nadi and then at one’s FastWhatTheHeckWasIThinkingSaver account balance and can’t help but notice the vast chasm that has formed between the two.
The good news is that with age comes wrinkles and sore hips and bad eyesight and forgetfulness. Hang on, that doesn’t sound like good news. What I meant to say was that with age comes wisdom. Yes, that’s right: wisdom.
Wisdom dictates that you’re far more likely to reach your goal if you set it in the first place and then don’t waver off your chosen course.
Actually I’m not that old, so I’m not quite there yet. But I do have a very nice sweater and it really was the most delicious quail’s egg.
