Since 1991 the Commonwealth Bank (CBA) has provided ASB with a London based representative office to help meet the needs of people moving to New Zealand. Our representatives will provide you with tailored banking assistance whilst in the United Kingdom and will help facilitate the setting up of your new ASB account(s) in New Zealand. CBA can also provide you with a full range of foreign exchange services, to help transfer your funds across to New Zealand.

So whether you’re moving to New Zealand to start a new life, returning home, or visiting on holiday, let our Representative Office help you make your move to New Zealand easier.

following ways

transfer facility for you.

The Commonwealth Bank’s London Transfer Account (LTA) will provide you access to competitive foreign exchange rates, along with a full range of foreign exchange services. The LTA can give you access to deposit facilities, spot contracts, forward contracts and rate-watch contracts. You can have simple foreign exchange information at your fingertips, with competitive foreign exchange products and specialist knowledge all accessible by phone, ensuring your move to New Zealand is made that little bit easier.

Transacting on your ASB account in New Zealand

Until your account is formally activated by you in New Zealand, a hold will remain on the account preventing any withdrawal of funds.

To activate your account you will need to be identified by taking a copy of your account opening letter (this is forwarded to your nominated postal address or email address), along with your passport and a secondary form of identification to ASB’s Migrant Banking Division in Auckland or into any ASB branch.

Once you have been identified by an ASB representative in New Zealand, We’ll remove the hold from your account, review your banking needs, to check that you have the right accounts and will set you up with other banking services including EFTPOS Cards, Internet and Phone Banking for your new life in New Zealand.

Transferring Funds to your ASB account

If you wish to transfer funds to your ASB bank account before your arrival in New Zealand, you can use the Commonwealth Bank’s foreign exchange services via their London Transfer Account or you can initiate an international transfer through your preferred FX broker.
