How to apply for a Tertiary or Graduate account

New to ASB?

To apply for an ASB Tertiary or Graduate account simply visit your nearest branch. To speed up the process, you can download and complete an application form to bring in with you.

Tertiary account
Graduate account

When you come in to apply for a Tertiary account you will need to bring:

  1. Two forms of identification (e.g. tertiary ID card, driver's licence or passport).
  2. Proof of enrolment or apprenticeship:
    For students
    This can be a letter of acceptance or acknowledgement of application from an NZQA approved tertiary provider, a fees invoice/receipt, or your current student ID card.
    For apprentices
    This can be your Training Agreement or Employment Contract which includes details of your apprenticeship, or a letter from an ITO or NZQA approved tertiary provider confirming your apprenticeship.

If you are applying for an overdraft or credit card you will need proof of income:
This can be confirmation of student loan or allowance, a payslip or a letter from your employer verifying your income.

When you come in to apply for a Graduate account you will need to bring:

  1. Two forms of identification (e.g. tertiary ID card, driver's licence or passport).
  2. Proof of graduation or apprenticeship completion:
    For graduates
    This can be your certificate, degree, diploma, official transcript of academic record, or a letter from an NZQA-approved tertiary institute confirming you have successfully completed your qualification.
    For qualified apprentices
    This can be your Trade Registration or a letter from your employer, ITO or NZQA-approved tertiary institution confirming you have successfully completed your apprenticeship.

If you are applying for an overdraft or credit card you will need proof of income:
This can be confirmation of student loan or allowance, a payslip or a letter from your employer verifying your income.

Existing ASB Customer?

If you already have an ASB personal account that you can access with internet banking, you can make an express application for a Tertiary account online. Simply log in to Fastnet Classic, go to 'Apply for' then 'Open an Account' to add a new suffix Tertiary account. Alternatively you can call 0800 782 784.

If you are not registered for FastNet Classic you can register by calling 0800 FASTNET (0800 327 863) free of charge. Or you can apply by visiting your nearest branch. To speed up the process, download and complete an application form to bring in with you.
