It is important to know that when your circumstances change, you will usually be able to make adjustments to your KiwiSaver contributions if you need to.
- I've stopped working - when you stop working, your KiwiSaver contributions made via your salary or wages automatically stop as well. If you wish to continue to contribute to KiwiSaver you will need to make payments directly to the ASB KiwiSaver Scheme.
- I'm changing jobs - when you change jobs, your contributions will automatically continue with your new employer and continue to be transferred to the ASB KiwiSaver Scheme via Inland Revenue. If you haven't already joined KiwiSaver, then you are likely to be automatically enrolled.
- I've just bought a house and don't think I can afford home loan repayments and KiwiSaver contributions - if you can't afford to continue your contributions, you can apply for a contributions holiday if you have been contributing to KiwiSaver for 12 months or more.
- I need to stop my contributions - if you're employed, you can apply for a contributions holiday of between three months and five years if you have been contributing to KiwiSaver for 12 months or more and in circumstances of financial hardship you may be able to apply earlier. If you're self-employed or not employed, with the ASB KiwiSaver Scheme, you can stop contributing at any time.
- I need to apply to get some or all of my contributions back - in some circumstances, such as significant financial hardship or serious illness, you can apply for an early withdrawal of some or all of your KiwiSaver savings.
