More about
ASB term deposits offer a convenient way to earn competitive interest on sums over $5,000.
Easy to open. You simply choose:
- How long you want to invest for, which also helps determine your interest rate.
- How you'd like the interest to be paid.
Interest payment options
- Interest can be paid at the end of the term, quarterly, six-monthly or annually.
- For term deposits of six months or longer, the interest can be added to your investment, rather than paid out each time. That way, it also starts to earn interest. This is known as compounding interest.
Investing to receive regular income
- If your goal is to receive a regular income from your term deposit, ask about our monthly interest option.
- You'll need to invest a minimum of $10,000 for a term of at least six months.
Please ensure that you have read and understood the investment statement for ASB term deposits prior to applying for any term deposit.
A copy of ASB's disclosure statement is also available free of charge from any ASB branch.
Interest rates and fees
Interest rates are subject to change at any time without notice. However, once you open your term deposit the rate is fixed for the term you selected.
- Minimum NZ$5,000 deposit.
- The combined balance of all investment deposits recorded under the same unique account number determines the interest rate.
- If term deposits are broken before the maturity date, a reduced interest rate will be paid on the funds invested.
- Term deposit interest rates.
- Use our calculator to see what returns you could earn and compare these to an ASB Term Fund.
