This insurance cover could help with your credit card repayments if you are made redundant or declared bankrupt, or if you are temporarily or permanently totally disabled, or die.

Good reasons to get Credit Card Repayment Insurance

  • Up to $20,000 cover if you are made redundant: If you are a full time employee and made involuntarily redundant and are unable to work for at least 30 consecutive days or more, 15% of your debit balance at the time of your redundancy could be met until you return to full-time work, the maximum benefit period of six months is reached, or the maximum of $20,000 has been paid.
  • Up to $20,000 cover if you are declared bankrupt: If you're self-employed and declared bankrupt, your total outstanding ASB credit card balance, at the date of bankruptcy, will be repaid in one lump sum up to a maximum of $20,000.
  • Up to $60,000 cover for temporary total disablement: If you are in full-time employment and an accident or illness prevents you from working in your usual occupation for 30 consecutive days or more, 15% of your debit balance at the time of your disablement could be met until you are no longer temporarily disabled, the maximum benefit period of 20 months is reached, or the maximum of $60,000 has been paid.

    If you are working part time (i.e. you are working in paid employment for less than 25 hours per week),or not working, then you could also be covered as long as your disablement confines you to hospital or bed at home for 30 consecutive days or more on medical advice.
  • Up to $20,000 cover for death or permanent total disablement: Your total outstanding ASB credit card balance, at the time of the event, could be repaid in one lump sum up to a maximum of $20,000.
  • Underwritten by Sovereign: You have the security of knowing that your policy is underwritten by Sovereign, New Zealand's leading life insurance provider.
