How to apply for international students

New to ASB?

If you are an international secondary school or tertiary student and would like to open a Headstart or Tertiary account, simply visit your nearest branch. To speed up the process, you can download an application form now.

To apply, you will need these things:

  • A certified photocopy* of two forms of identification (preferably your student ID or fees receipt and passport). A driver's licence or birth certificate is also acceptable.
  • Proof that you're studying, your student ID, fees receipt or acceptance letter into a secondary school or tertiary course.

Before you arrive

If you are intending to move to New Zealand to study, you can apply to open up an ASB account before you arrive. You can apply by completing our International Student Package application form and identification requirements.

When we have received and approved your application, we will get your ASB International Student Package ready for your arrival. Then all you will need to do is visit any ASB branch on your arrival and present your identification.

Alternatively, you can take your completed application to one of ASB's representative offices. These offices can accept your application and sight your identification, making the application process quicker and easier. Then all you will need to do is visit any ASB branch on your arrival to activate your account.
